There aren't many printers in the market that can match the new printer on the block, Lexmark T-650dn, taking manufacturer specifications into consideration though. The newly announced printer seems like a true performer in multiple facets, especially for a laser printer that can specifically print in black only.
For starters, the printer is capable of printing at a top resolution of 1200 X 1200 dpi which is quite uncommon among laser printers. It is powered by a 500Mhz processor and 128MB RAM which can be upgraded up to 640MB.
The most impressive feature on this printer is its printing speed which is claimed at 45 pages per minute. Probably, this is the fastest we have seen for a mid sized semi-professional printer. Duplex printing speed is at 36 sheets per minute. The time for the first print is also on the positive side at 7.5 seconds.
Connectivity options are diverse, with USB 2.0 for standalone systems and Ethernet port for wired networks. The lack of a wireless option, even as an option is deplorable.
Lexmark claims that the printer is not only a great performer, but also displays eco-friendliness. The noise generated from the printer during printing is at 53 dBA which is below average for printers in this segment. Duplex printing option ensures that the paper consumption is at a minimal. Lastly, a high yield cartridge that can print a whopping 25,000 pages is available.
Going by the claims of the manufacturer, the tag - prints black, thinks green sounds apt for Lexmark T-650dn. It does carry a steep price tag of 425. Whether it commands such a price or not, we will know when we put the printer to test, soon.
