Personally, I had never been a fan of so-called "cool" computer cases. Until one day my 15 year old son purchased a simple sheet of acrylic paneling for his gaming computer. The result of which turned his computer room in to a high tech "command" center for his gaming activities. After awhile, I too became enthralled with these "Star Wars" type creations!
I play World Of Warcraft with my son, so the effect supplied by our computer cases,(you guessed it, I got one too!), was especially appropriate. To my wife, we must look like the pilot and co-pilot of a starship, while we are madly gaming away.
I decided to get fancy with my cool computer case, as I purchased a whole new system already enclosed within the case. This saved me the hassle of matching the "guts" of my old computer with my new case. My case is completely clear acrylic, so it is fascinating to watch all of it work together once I get booted up.
Naturally, I had to get the blue LED lights to really create that "mystical" effect. The look of my computer now gets more comments from household visitors than anything else in our home! Many non gamers have never seen this new generation of acrylic computer cases. I occasionally catch household guests staring at the interior of my computer like they were looking at fish in a tank.
My case does have some drawbacks. The biggest of which is that it shows smudges and scratches almost to a fault. One of the first things I did was purchase good quality scratch removal solution. I find myself using it at least once a week. It is the price I have to pay as the proud owner of one of these new fangled, cool computer cases!
My son and I have discovered many custom built computer cases that stagger the imagination! Including one case with a sophisticated water cooling system. It is the coolest of ALL the cool computer cases!
